Less is more here. Aim to wash your hair two to three times a week at most. Unlike your natural hair, the weft itself doesn't produce oil from the scalp - so you're mostly washing to keep your roots and natural hair clean, not the extensions themselves.
When you do wash:
Always brush gently before getting your hair wet. Wet tangles are harder to deal with than dry ones.
Use a sulphate-free, paraben-free shampoo. Sulphates strip the hair and can loosen the microbeads over time. Focus the shampoo on your scalp and roots rather than scrubbing down the full length of the weft.
Apply conditioner from mid-lengths to ends only - keep it away from the beads and the root area. Leave-in or oil-based products near the attachment points can cause slipping.
Rinse with lukewarm water. Hot water is hard on both the hair and the beads.
Gently squeeze (don't wring) excess water out with a microfibre towel and allow the hair to air dry where possible. If you're using a blow-dryer, keep it on a lower heat setting and always use a heat protectant.
Products to avoid: Sulphate shampoos, clarifying formulas, heavy oils near the roots, 2-in-1 products, and anything with silicone buildup.
