Short Hair and Hair Extensions
Sometimes people with short hair can shy away from hair extensions, thinking their hair is too short to be able to apply them effectively. The truth is, thanks to the different kinds of extensions that we have here in stock at Medusa, this is most probably not the case. You CAN wear hair extensions on most short hairstyles – as long as you do it right.
It’s true that you will need a certain length of hair on your scalp to cover up where the extension meets your natural hair. There is little point in getting them at all if where they are attached is visible; that would look unsightly, and defy the whole point of wearing them, which is to give the illusion of your own, naturally thick and long, lustrous locks. Usually 10-15cm (4-6 inches) should be enough to safely cover the area, and trick everybody into thinking those silky tresses cascading from your head are nothing more than the result of great genes and good hair care!
Choose which hair extension best suits your needs
We stock a range of different kinds of hair extensions at Medusa, such as tape, clip in, and weft extensions that are designed to be sewn in. You can choose which extension best suits your needs according to your current hairstyle, type of hair, and the length and style you wish you create. Some hair extensions will work better on short hair than others. Clip ins, for example, are easy to apply and hide on short hair, where tape hair is probably not the best choice, as the bond is quite wide and may not be discreet enough to hide under your natural hair. If you’re not sure which will be the most suitable extension for your short hair, contact us via our website, or give us a call. Alternatively, you can discuss it with your stylist.
One final tip: it’s best not to attach super long extensions onto a super short hairstyle, as this could cause problems when it comes to blending your extensions in with your natural hair. Use your best judgment. Shorter hair extensions on short hair is probably the best idea to begin with, at least until your mane has grown out a little.
