SS18 Hair Accessory Trends For The Holiday Party Season

This time of year is always a whirlwind of Christmas parties and end of year celebrations so if you’re anything like us, by mid-December you’ll be seriously in need of some fresh inspiration to get you over the line and into the new year!  To add a bit of extra sparkle to your party season, we’ve jumped ahead and taken a look at some 2018 hair accessory trends that are guaranteed to make you the centre of attention.

Hair Jewellery: Every girl needs a crown, you only need ask Dolce & Gabbana. They carried the flag for covetable crowns and regal headpieces on their SS18 catwalk.  It’s the easiest, most fun way to shake things up a little on your mane, and will inexpensively modernize and update your entire look. Play around with different types of embellishments to find out what accessory goes best with which hairstyle. If a crown is a little OTT for you, try a jewel necklace as a headband instead.

Pearl and Encrusted Hair Pins: Ariana tucks them into her braids, Lily Collins wore them in her half up-half down style at the pre-Oscar Chanel awards ceremony this year, and Chrissy Tiegan used them to adorn a messy-cool top knot. Designers at New York Fashion Week went wild this year decorating models’ hair with beautifully crafted and unique, updated designs of hairpins that have taken off in everyday wear ever since, including the pearl hairpin. Add them to any hairstyle as a statement piece. The rest of the pin hidden in your mane creates the illusion of random pearls floating about your hair, which looks elegant, understated, and chic.

Bow-tied Ribbons: Join Mandy Moore, Sienna Miller, and a number of other cool-girls on the runway and the red carpet, and salute the 90’s by adorning your hair with a pretty ribbon tied in a bow. That’s right, ribbons are back. Add them to your braid, ponytail or elsewhere in your locks to create a soft, vintage, classic look.

Feather Hair Extensions: Still a big trend for 2017, so if jewels and pearls are a little fancy for your casual Australian outdoor Christmas party, then this might be for you. Draw inspiration from Pretty Little Liars’ Ariel Montgomery, and YouTube beauty stars Lucy and Lydia Connell: rock some gorgeous feather hair extensions of your own. Try out our hand selected and dyed Medusa feather extensions in a natural or turquoise tribe (currently on sale!).
