Getting my hair done is one of my favourite things in the world; the cut, the colour, the blowdry, the shampoo-and-conditioner-scalp-massage. Mmmmm. On the other hand, I don’t love it when my natural hair colour starts to show through a couple of weeks later. Just no.
Working around hair stylists and professionals has been a saving grace! The tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years have saved me so much time and bad-hair angst. Not to mention less frequent trips to the hairdresser, plus saving precious time and hard-earned cash. Try one of these regrowth rescue tips:
Covert Cover-Up
Cover up your tiger stripe with a quick-fix, temporary colour. Back in the day, a girl used mascara to touch up her roots. Eek! Save that mascara for your lashes, babes. Now you can choose from root concealer, coloured dry shampoo, hair chalks and fill-in powders to do the job.
If you get super desperate and don’t have any of the above, blondes can use baby powder, and brunettes, a matching coloured eyeshadow. Check the Halloween aisle for spray-on colour too (that stuff comes in handy for all sorts).
Balayage Defence
Think ahead, go balayage. The last few visits to my hairdresser gave me a colour designed to look great growing out, so the roots don’t cause me the slightest distress. What a guy! He’s always got my back, and yes, he is currently my number one man – ahead of my partner and dad—sorry guys. 😉

Secret Weapon
Creative styling is your secret weapon! Just create a messy style or a zigzag part; it’s that easy. A smooth or sleek hairstyle with a straight parting is a dead giveaway that your roots need a touch-up, whereas a less defined line will help disguise and blend the colour that’s coming through.
