Some things never go out of style. Ripped jeans. Doc Martins. Red cars. Little black dresses. One piece swimsuits. Your favourite lipstick. That song. Your favourite go-to hairstyle… you know, the one that suits you just perfectly… everybody has one.
With that in mind, we’ve thought about the signature looks we love on our fave celebs and compiled a list of basic hairstyles that have stood the test of time. Let’s begin with our favourite Spice Girl…
The bob: thrown into the spotlight a decade ago thanks to Victoria Beckham, the bob can be worn wavy, straight, shaggy, or in graduated layers framing the face.
The sleek ponytail: goes with anything. Can be done a myriad of different ways. Always looks classy, yet it’s fresh and flirty too. Sported by the likes of Amy Adams and Reese Witherspoon.
The beachy wave: Giselle Bundchen and Cameron Diaz have perfected these effortless waves. A summery favourite no matter what the season.
The bun: a favourite of the classic beauty Natalie Portman, who wears it low slung and to the side. Other options are a messy top knot, ballerina style, or in a loose plaited twist. Add extensions to make it bigger and better.
The plait: classic 3-strand, fishtail, halo-braid, messy and voluminous, or long, thick and chunky, plaits are forever in our hearts. Look to Blake Lively and Rachel McAdams for best plait inspo.
Long and straight with a centre part: Gwyneth wears this best. With the help of a flat iron, some anti-frizz serum, and your hair extensions, you can look Oscar night ready too.
Long layers: Jennifer Aniston’s signature look. Long, layered, silky and voluminous tresses will compliment any face shape.
Naturally curly: tight spiral curls like Keri Russell’s, or big and bold like Solange Knowles, curly hair is fresh and dramatic.
The pixie cut: Mia Farrow began this cropped hair trend, which is also the perfect way to accentuate pixie-like features. Ginnifer Goodwin, and Michelle Williams rock this best.
