Colour Correction

Colour Correction

Thank goodness for the option of colour correction by really skilled, professional colourists. If it wasn’t for them, we would be living with our bad hair colour mistakes for a lot longer than we care to. Well, I would be that’s for sure!

When Would I Need To Colour Correct?

There are a few reasons that you might need to colour correct your hair;

  1. You’ve left it too long between visits at the salon
  2. You’ve done a dodgy hair colour job at home on yourself
  3. You’ve had bad luck and experienced a less-than-stellar dye job at a salon
  4. You want a dramatic change of colour that will involve going dark to light or light to dark.

Unfortunately, colour correction can be costly and time-consuming. It will depend on how damaged your hair is to begin with and how much work it’s going to take to get to the desired result.

Okay, That’s Me, So Now What?

Here are some things to remember when you’re going in to get your hair colour ‘fixed’:

Pick an excellent colourist. Scour her work on Instagram, or get a reference from a friend with whose hair colour you always admire

Book time for a really thorough consultation with your colourist before you go back in to get started. You want to be sure you’re both on the same page so you don’t end up with any surprises or unpleasant results.

A good colourist should ask you about your previous hair dye history. They will determine what you’re willing to pay up front and how much you’re willing to invest in terms of time and effort to maintain your colour. You will probably also be quizzed on any lifestyle factors that might also affect your hair colour.

To wrap up your preliminary consultation, they will discuss the potential requirement for extra treatments such as keratin or Olaplex and whether you need to, (and are willing to) cut your hair to completely restore its overall health and vitality.

Good luck!
