How To Get Beach Hair Sans Beach

How To Get Beach Hair Sans Beach

We love summer for many reasons: getting to show off our bod in a new cozzie, swimming in the ocean, long summer days and nights, and cheeky margaritas at sunset all come to mind. One of our favourite things is that salty, beachy, I’ve-been-at-the-beach-all-day hair that comes from, well, being at the beach all day!
Unfortunately, responsibility, prior commitments, proximity to salt water, and the busyness of life often get in the way. Fortunately, there is a way to get a look that implies you’ve been sunning and surfing all day, without actually going to the beach (although that’s the number one preferred way to get it!). All you need is a few minutes of your time and effort, a hair straightener, some elastics, and a little hairspray.

Step 1: Section your hair into four equal parts and secure with clips.

Step 2: Starting at the bottom half of your first section, plait your hair. You want four plaits per section. When you get to the top of your head, plait your head backwards for added volume and height.

Step 3: Run your flat iron over each of the plaits, then seal with hairspray. At the top of your head, scrunch your hair while you apply the flat iron, to create extra volume.

Step 4: After 10 minutes, (or if you’ve had the forethought to do this the night before, after waking up), undo your plaits and shake your head… and there you have it… perfectly tousled, messy, sexy, beach hair!
