How To Prevent Split Ends

We all love how healthy and shiny hair our hair looks after we’ve given it some extra special TLC like a nourishing hair mask, or right after you’ve been to the hairdresser for a trim. You all know from experience that constant wear and tear from daily washing, styling, hot tools, and product saturation, is ultimately damaging to the ends of the hair, and can cause them to split and fray… and it’s not a good look at all!

Fortunately, there are more than a few things we can do to minimize any potential damage. If you treat your hair with the care and respect it deserves and concentrate on good hair health and maintenance, you’ll have hardly a single split end in sight to worry about.

Trim Your Hair Regularly

Getting regular trims every six to eight weeks will stop any splits ends worsening and travelling any further up the hair shaft.

Shampoo Mindfully And Sparingly

When you shampoo your mane in the shower, your hair becomes saturated in hot running water, making it extra fragile, so be doubly careful as you’re lathering up. Wash your hair at most twice a week so you can allow your roots to be nourished by their own sebum, the natural oil that is generated from your scalp that contributes to keeping your hair healthy and shiny.

Argan Oil Is Your Friend

Keep an eye out for products that contain Argan oil. Unlike other oils that are also good for your tresses such as coconut oil, Argan oil contains molecules that are small enough to penetrate the actual shaft of your hair, giving it a super boost of hydration and shine, and will also hide and treat your split ends.

Don’t Blowdry The Ends

You can still get a great blow dry if you avoid blasting the ends. The same goes for any heat styling tools. Be mindful of any kinds of harsh heat on the ends of your hair, which will stress it out and split it apart.
