Are you someone who bounces out of bed every morning and confirms to the mirror that you are in fact an excellent specimen of womanhood? Go you! You’re well on your way to nailing the art of self-love and self-acceptance, you can pat yourself on the back.
Have said that, we still figure that even a most fabulously grounded and confident creature like yourself might want to tweak what the universe gave you. So we came up with some tips to help you embrace a ‘New Year – New You’ philosophy. The key to success here is to keep it simple and make small changes daily.
Without further ado, here are 5 ways to practise a bit of self-love in 2020.
Get More Sleep
Your skin produces collagen while you sleep, which means fewer wrinkles and less sagging. If you feel you need a little extra help to smooth out lines while you sleep without breaking the budget, try reusable Overnight Lift patches. This tip is right up there with drink more water!
Cut Back On Alcohol
Yeah, we know, it’s a bit of a boring one, and super hard to avoid at this time of the year. But you should know that wine-time on the regular dehydrates the skin. It will cause your wrinkles and pores to be more visible, leading to premature aging, eek! Aim to limit your intake to a few drinks once or twice a week at the most to maintain a glowing complexion and healthy-looking hair.
Create Some Good Hair Habits
You wouldn’t dream of using cheap products on your skin so why should you treat your hair any differently. Ask your hairdresser to recommend the right products for your hair type and use a hair mask once a week. Try to limit washing to three times a week if you can get away with it. However, if you have straight hair with a tendency to be oily, or if you exercise daily, you may need to wash every second day. Either way, great products will ensure your hair is always in tip-top condition. Clip-in or halo hair extensions are also a quick and easy way to create extra length and add highlights or lowlights without the need for chemically treating your hair.
Put Down Your Phone
Is spending less time on your smartphone already somewhere on your 2020 New Years resolution list? Not only are we addicted to checking our socials, but phone time may even be threatening our long-term health. Constant checking may be chronically raising your levels of the stress-related hormone cortisol. Hide that thing in a drawer!
Take Up Regular Exercise
It wouldn’t be a ‘new year – new you’ plan if we didn’t suggest making exercise a part of your daily routine. It’s not only good for your physical health but, it’s also great for stimulating those (completely legal) happy hormones. The big key to successfully sticking to an exercise plan is to:
a) Find something you really love to do as you’re less likely to make excuses.
b) Find your tribe. By that, we mean to find a place where you feel super comfortable with people that align with your values and how you see yourself. Trust us, it’ll take exercise from being a chore to something you look forward to every day, even if its only for the post-workout smoothie and chats.
Happy New Year beauties, and don’t forget, we’ll always have your back in 2020!
